Sensitive Data Platform Set Up

The following is the general set up path for Sensitive Data Platform (SDP). Depending on your business process, your organization may have done some or all of the steps already.

1. Sensitive Data Platform is deployed and the Admin logs in.

2. Admin configures Agent Installation and gets an install packages.

3. Scanning Agent

a. Admin gets Agent License key from Customer Success Manager.

b. Admin downloads registration keys from Agents | Registration.

c. Admin configures installers via on-prem msi builder and installs agents on specific Targets

d. Admin installs the MSI Package. The Agent will automatically register with the environment and become available in about 5 minutes.

4. Activity Agent

a. Admin downloads the Agent.

b. Admin installs Executable. The Agent will automatically register with the environment and become available in about 5 minutes.

5. Admin configures Agent Policies and assigns them to agents. (Default can be used if no special configuration options are needed.)

6. Admin checks Data Asset Inventory then adds Targets that will not have agents installed on them but with data that is to be scanned. Note: Access credentials for each target will be needed for this step.

7. Admin plans Access Controls and sets up based on busines needs. See Working With Access Controls for more information.

8. Admin configures Settings for Global Classifications.

9. Admin configures Settings for Global Data Types.

10. Admin creates and runs a Scan for Discovery (Metadata Only) This would typically be run for each Target or Tag group.

11. Admin reviews Scan Results to understand where data is that may be important to scan for sensitive data.

12. Admin configures a simple Scan Playbook based on Classifications, Data Types, and the Discovery Scan results.

13. Admin creates and runs a Scan for Sensitive Data to find sensitive data.

14. Admin reviews Scan Results of the Sensitive Data Scan.

15. Admin modifies Scan Playbook to be more robust based on how data should be handled.

16. Admin monitors for a bit, using scans to handle things themselves.

17. Admin sets scans schedule once a month/week/day.
